World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2010

World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2010

Introduction: In 1987, the World Bank, with funding from the Government of Japan, established the World Bank Graduate Scholarship for graduate studies in subjects related to economic development. Each year, the Program awards scholarships to individuals from World Bank member countries to undertake graduate studies at renowned universities throughout member countries of the Bank.

Now in its 23d year, the Regular Program has awarded 3,153 scholarships, selected from 58,944 applicants. In addition, 1,226 scholarships have been awarded in the various JJ/WBGSP Partnership Programs for a total of 4,379 awards.

Eligibility: To apply for a JJ/WBGSP scholarship under the Regular Program, an applicant must:
* Be a national of a World Bank member country eligible to borrow.
* Be born after March 31, 1970.
* Have, by March 31, 2010, at least 2, preferably 4 to 5, years of recent full time professional experience acquired after a university degree, in the applicant’s home country or in another developing country.
* Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.
* Be in good health.
* Be of good character.
* Not be a permanent resident or a national of any industrialized country.
* Not be residing in an industrialized country for more than one year.
Awards: The JJ/WBGSP scholarship provides annual awards to cover the cost of completing a master’s degree or its equivalent. The awards are given for one year and, provided that the academic program is longer than one year, may be renewed for a second consecutive year or a portion thereof, subject to satisfactory academic performance in the first year and the availability of funds. There is an absolute two year maximum limit on JJ/WBGSP awards.

Selection Criteria: Eligible applications are assessed according to three main factors: academic excellence, professional experience, and relevance of program of study. Priority is given to candidates from the public sector with a high potential to impact the development in their own countries after completion of their studies. To the extent permitted by Program requirements and selection standards, the JJ/WBGSP:
* Seeks to maintain a reasonably wide geographical distribution of awards and gives priority to applicants from low-income countries.
* Supports promising female candidates.
* Gives priority to those candidates who, other things equal, have limited financial resources.

Science Scholarship 2010 Application

Science Scholarship 2010 Application $10,000 Drawing $$$

Science Scholarship, If you have decided that going back to college is a great decision for you, then you need to find a way to fund your decision. This is typically done by locating the appropriate amount of college aid.
$10,000 Scholarship Drawing

The problem is trying to find the funding that will get you through the next 2 to 4 years. Here are a few ways that you can find college aid fast so that you can start on your path toward a completed college degree.

One of the best sources for college aid is a scholarship. Scholarships are typically given by universities or private organizations that are interested in promoting certain individuals through a particular school or degree program because they have shown certain qualifications.

There are a few things you need to consider before randomly applying for every scholarship that comes your way. Here are a few tips on how you should prepare prior to filling out the application.

First, before you apply to any scholarship program, you need to read and understand what the requirements are for that scholarship. If you determine early on that you would not qualify, you will not waste hours if not days of your time filling out and sending in an application that in all likelihood would be rejected.

Second, once you have determined that you have eligibility for this program, you need to fill it out as thoroughly as possible. This means that for every question that is asked, it needs to be filled in. If you leave any blanks on an application, it will need to a guaranteed delay and you may miss deadlines that may be necessary to meet in order to qualify for that particular program. University Of Texas Scholarship

Third, while you are filling it out, make sure that you write very neatly. In our information age, more than likely most of the scholarship applications that you fill out will be online. Therefore, you will not have to worry about how legible your writing is. However, some private scholarships in local communities will ask you to fill out paperwork that is physical and needs to be turned in and reviewed by a human being. If it is not legible, it will more than likely be rejected.

Fourth, you are almost guaranteed to be asked to write an essay. Writing an essay will be very easy if the scholarship in the program you are applying for is directly related to your college interest. If you are going for a scholarship in biology, and you have a biology major in mind, you will have no problem writing a great essay. However, if you are going into chemistry, and you are applying for a scholarship in astronomy, not only will you have difficulty writing a good paper, but you will more than likely be rejected because it has nothing to do with the program you are applying for.

Finally, make sure that you keep track of all of your deadlines. In order to get enough money for school focusing only on these programs, you need to keep a file which lists all of them and the deadlines that you need to meet. A great idea is to save a file in Excel on your computer so that you can easily access it from your desktop to keep track of when each application is due.

Applying for scholarships is one way that you can avoid having tens of thousands of dollars in debt once you have left school. This is usually acquired by taking out multiple student loans to finish your college education. By taking the time now and working hard to get free money for college, you will save yourself years of agony in paying off loans for an education that you needed to have and that will benefit you in the years to come.

Computer Science Scholarships 2010

Never stop learning
We’re making it easier for future computer scientists to excel in what they love to do. A Microsoft scholarship provides an advantage so you can pursue studies in computer science and related technical disciplines. You’ll join other scholarship recipients from the United States, Canada, and Mexico who share the passion for software and academic excellence. It all adds up to achieving your primary goal—to make a real difference in the software industry.

Microsoft is offering four different types of technical scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year to current undergraduate students: General Scholarships, Women's Scholarships, Minority Scholarships, and Scholarships for Students with Disabilities.
Requirements
Basics
If you’re interested in applying for the 2010-2011 academic year scholarships, make sure you postmark your application by February 1, 2010 in order for your application to be considered. Microsoft selects final candidates based on the following criteria:
  • Eligibility
  • Quality of application
  • Displayed interest in the software industry
  • Commitment to leadership
  • Financial need

Please check your e-mail on
March 19, 2010, the day we notify all rewarded scholarship recipients. We will strive to contact all applicants about their status, however please note that due to the high number of scholarship applicants, we may only be able to contact candidates who were awarded scholarships.

Diversity at Microsoft
We encourage student populations currently underrepresented in the field of computer science to pursue technical degrees. All candidates who meet the criteria for eligibility described below may certainly apply, while we do award a large majority of our student scholarships to women, minorities, and the disabled. Minority applicants must belong to one of the following groups underrepresented in the software field: African-American, Hispanic, or Native American.

Provisions
As a recipient of one of our scholarships, you’ll enjoy the benefits for one academic year. You may receive either a full or partial scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year. Full tuition scholarships will cover tuition for the 2010-2011 academic year as posted by the financial aid office at your college or university. Microsoft will make payments to the designated school, and they’re not transferable to other academic institutions. You may use the funds for tuition only—not for other costs listed on your bursar bill, such as room and board.

You’ll also need to apply for a summer internship and if offered an internship, you must complete the salaried summer internship of 12 weeks or more at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, Washington. (Microsoft reserves the right not to offer an internship position to the scholarship winner if an appropriate match cannot be found.)

Eligibility
To be eligible, you must be enrolled full time in a Bachelor's degree program at a 4-year college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico at the time you submit the application. Plus, we’ll need to see that you’re making satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline such as electrical engineering, math, or physics—and that you demonstrate an interest in computer science. Because the scholarship is merit based, you must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average out of a possible 4.0, or a 4.0 cumulative grade point average out of a possible 5.0. For more detailed information regarding eligibility, please read our FAQ.

Walmart Foundation Scholarship Programs

These scholarships are especially important in a year when every dollar counts. According to the National Association of College and University Business Officers, U.S. colleges expect more requests for financial aid, while funding for such assistance has fallen due to shrinking endowments and state budget cutbacks.

Although the application period for this year's scholarship program has ended, you can learn more about the programs we offer by clicking on the links below. Online applications will be available for the 2011 fall semester from November 1, 2010 through January 28, 2011.

The Walmart Higher Reach Scholarship

Provides a college scholarship up to $3,000 to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. associates who have been out of school for at least one year.

Walton Family Foundation Scholarship (Administered by the Walmart Foundation)

Administered by the Walmart Foundation, the Walton Family Foundation Scholarship is a $13,000 scholarship paid out over four years. Applications must be dependents of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. associates, have at least a 22 ACT or 1030 SAT (Critical Reading + Math) score and prove financial need.
