The Freeman Indonesia Nonprofit Internship Program (FINIP), funded by the Freeman Foundation, aims to develop student leaders and strengthen the nonprofit sector in Indonesia. IIE will select and pair 10 Indonesian students pursuing U.S. degrees with 10 U.S. undergraduates and arrange internships for them to work together in an Indonesian nonprofit organization.As part of the 9-week experience, from June 15 to August 13, 2011, the Freeman Interns will participate in a three-day orientation and a final capstone seminar in Jakarta, organized by IIE’s partner organization, the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF). Internships and coursework will be arranged by IIEF in three cities: Bandung, Malang, and Yogyakarta. All program-related costs will be covered.
Upon returning to the U.S., students will be expected to share their experiences with peers on their home campuses and to explore ways to incorporate what they learned over the summer into their academic and professional careers.

Since their inception in 1959, some 26,000 individuals have benefited from the award of Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowships to pursue educational and training opportunities in other Commonwealth countries. Around two thirds of awards have been tenable in the United Kingdom. The vast majority of award holders have returned to make a significant contribution to their home countries, in many cases at the prestigious in the world.
This prospectus describes the Commonwealth Professional Fellow ships offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom in 2011-2012. Whilst the majority of awards offered by the Commission have been for conventional postgraduate study, its activities also embrace a long-standing programme for university staff from developing countries to spend periods of time in the UK, for the purposes of career updating and skills enhancement. The Commission has sought to extend this principle to other professions, through the creation of the Commonwealth Professional Fellowships programme, under which organisations based in the UK can either apply to host key professionals from developing Commonwealth countries within their own organ is at – ion, or nominate candidates to work with other UK-based organizations with which they have links. Awards under the programme were first offered in 2002-03 and further awards will be offered this year under the terms and conditions set out here.
In 2011-2012, the Commission is working with the Scottish Government to offer Commonwealth Saltire Professional Fellowships. Funded by the Scottish Government, these awards are open to Scottish organisations which are able to identify a Fellow or Fellows who have the ability to influence progress towards minimising the impact of climate change in their home country.

The Great Britain-China Educational Trust (GBCET) administers its own awards, and also makes awards with funds contributed by the Sino-British Fellowship Trust, the Universities’ China Committee in London, and the Han Suyin Trust. The award is meant to contribute towards essential fees and living expenses.Awards granted up to £3,000 (recently changed from £5,000)However, the most common amount awarded is between £1,500-£2,000.The Trustees give priority to applications where the bulk of funding has already been raised.

Arab nationals with citizenship of a member State of the Arab League who come to Britain temporarily for the sole purpose of undertaking university studies as an overseas student and who are committed to returning home to a country in the Arab world, on completion of their study programme.
Studies at the postgraduate level only at a British university leading to a postgraduate degree qualification such as Masters, MPhil, PhD. We are seeking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow in Complex Systems who will join the research group based at the CABDyN Complexity Centre at the University of Oxford. The advertised post is funded through one of the CABDyN Complexity Centre’s new projects: “Forecasting Financial Crises: Measurements, Models and Predictions” is funded under the European Commission’s Framework 7, Future of Emerging Technologies Open Scheme. The project aims to address the very important challenge of improving our ability to detect early warning signals for potential instabilities and crises in financial markets, by developing novel network-based measures and software tools that can be applied to large-scale financial datasets on a real-time basis.
Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in a cognate discipline e.g. mathematical biology, computer science, economics, engineering, mathematics, physics, or quantitative sociology (social network analysis) from a major research university, with postdoctoral training in complex systems and networks, and with a track record of serious interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement. Candidates will be expected to show evidence of substantial practical experience of managing and working with large-scale empirical data sets for research purposes, some familiarity more specifically with financial data sets, and an established interest in finance research literature. An appropriate track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications on complex systems and networks, and good programming skills will be essential.The Senior Research Fellow will manage and analyse different large-scale financial datasets used in this project, will oversee the day-to-day management, will present research results at international workshops and conferences, and will co-author articles for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals.

The Confucius Institute in Auckland, in cooperation with China Scholarship Council of China’s Ministry of Education, offers up to 10 scholarships each year. These scholarships are administered by the Confucius Institute and fund a full academic year’s study of Chinese language and related subjects at a tertiary institute in China.
Eligibility
The NZ-China Scholarship is open to all New Zealand citizens in their last year of tertiary study, or to those who already have completed a full course of tertiary study within the five years prior to applying.
The scholarship covers tuition fees for a full academic year, accommodation costs, medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance. Applicants need to demonstrate Chinese language proficiency and/or be working in a China-related professional or industry sector.
Applications
Applications for the following year’s scholarship open in the early months of year and close at the end of July of each year. Selection results are announced in September. The successful applicants are required to attend a pre-departure meeting in early November. The Chinese academic year begins in the following February/March.

The Angelo Marcello Anile Association announces the second edition of the Anile Prize. The prize will be awarded for a PhD thesis written in English and submitted in an Italian university, concerning a topic that bridges the gap between mathematics and its applications. Work that uses advanced mathematics and/or proposes new mathematical tools in order to solve applied problems from economics, engineering, science and technology is particularly appropriate. The work will be evaluated on the basis of the quality of the mathematics and of its impact on the application. The third edition of the prize will be announced by the end of November 2012, because the prize has become biennial.
Eligibility :The candidate must have completed his/her doctoral dissertation and all other requirements for his/her doctorate during the period running from 1st July 2009 to 30th November 2010.
The award will consist of: -A citation certificate
• A cash award of € 5000 (tax included)
• Refund of reasonable travel expenses to Catania
• The winner will also be given free life membership of the Angelo Marcello Anile Association (as an ordinary member).
