NZ-China Scholarship for all New Zealand Citizens at a Tertiary Institute in China

A premier annual award providing up to ten New Zealanders with a full academic year’s study in China.

Employer: The Confucius Institute in Auckland, in cooperation with China Scholarship Council of China’s Ministry of Education,

The Confucius Institute in Auckland, in cooperation with China Scholarship Council of China’s Ministry of Education, offers up to 10 scholarships each year. These scholarships are administered by the Confucius Institute and fund a full academic year’s study of Chinese language and related subjects at a tertiary institute in China.

Eligibility

The NZ-China Scholarship is open to all New Zealand citizens in their last year of tertiary study, or to those who already have completed a full course of tertiary study within the five years prior to applying.

The scholarship covers tuition fees for a full academic year, accommodation costs, medical insurance, and a monthly living allowance. Applicants need to demonstrate Chinese language proficiency and/or be working in a China-related professional or industry sector.
Applications

Applications for the following year’s scholarship open in the early months of year and close at the end of July of each year. Selection results are announced in September. The successful applicants are required to attend a pre-departure meeting in early November. The Chinese academic year begins in the following February/March.
