Scholarship and Financial Aid Overview: Student Ambassador Program

Scholarship and Financial Aid Overview: Student Ambassador Program

Abbey Road Programs is delighted to present three types of summer scholarships and fellowships through our Student Ambassador Program: Summer Program Fellowships, Study Abroad Scholarships and Green Ticket Community Service Scholarships. Student Ambassadors are motivated students that demonstrate a commitment to learning that extends throughout the school year. Potential Ambassadors may apply to any of the scholarships and fellowships listed below. As part of the Ambassador program, during the application process students select one summer project relevant to their program of interest. Project descriptions are listed below. Ambassador applications are accepted on a rolling basis through April 1st. Interested students are encouraged to contact Abbey Road as soon as possible in order to be considered for one of the following scholarship and fellowship opportunities.

Student Ambassador Summer Project Descriptions
New Student Ambassador: Our New Student Ambassadors are extremely valuable resources for families who want a first hand account of an Abbey Road summer program. As a New Student Ambassador, you are responsible for sharing your study abroad experiences with prospective Abbey Road students and families
throughout the school year after your summer experience. Your duties will include handing out materials to your friends and peers, making fun postings about your summer plans on Abbey Road’s social media fan pages, and serving as a phone and email reference for prospective families next fall.

Web Ambassador: Web Ambassadors are young writers who have a knack for composing short stories and articles, are interested in further developing their writing skills and wish to share their summer experiences with their peers. Throughout the summer you will get the chance to collaborate with your Program Director and contribute your thoughts to the Official Program Blog. Share your stories, talk about your friends’ experiences and reflect on how your summer compares to your first personal reflection.

Program Journalist: Abbey Road Program Journalists are interested in journalism and creative writing with the chance to have their work published on the Abbey Road website. Program journalists are expected to keep a daily journal of the events and activities that have impacted or inspired them during their summer abroad. Program Journalists are asked to take photos to support their reflections in addition to conducting several student interviews to supplement their personal accounts. These interviews will be used by the journalist at the program’s end as they draft their own unique article about their time abroad.

Program Photographer: Program photographers start their work as soon as they arrive at their program destination. You will be asked to keep a detailed “digital” account of your experiences this summer with Abbey Road. You may document interesting classroom activities, social events, weekend day trips and the every-day life experiences you will encounter as you live like a true European local. Program Photographers are asked to put together a digital photo album upon the program’s completion.

$200 – $500 Student Ambassador Fellowships
Our Student Ambassador Fellowships are akin to “mini internships” designed to connect students with a faculty member during the summer who will oversee their summer project in addition to providing them with leadership opportunities upon the program’s completion through the Abbey Road Alumni Network. Anyone is eligible to apply for a summer fellowship regardless of program destination and academic background and interest. Fellowships are awarded on a first-come-first served basis.
