Eligibility: The project is multidisciplinary in nature and as such candidates will be considered from a variety of backgrounds. Candidates with a Master of Science (MSc) in Business or Engineering will be considered. A multi-disciplinary background is an advantage. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in at least two or more of the following: •Life cycle management •Supply chain management or product chain organization •Knowledge/change and/or innovation management •Organisational/business theory •Business ethics, business diplomacy and governance •Sustainability. Applicants should have strong analytical capabilities, be adaptive, and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively. Good knowledge of English is required and the applicant should be able to communicate scientific results orally as well as in written form. The applicant is expected to learn Swedish within a few years.
The project will be performed with SKF and the overarching aim is to investigate how capabilities in life cycle thinking (LCT) and life cycle management (LCM) can be developed in large corporations. These capabilities can potentially allow a company to improve the sustainability performance of products, processes and associated value chains. The project will involve working in collaboration with industry and academic partners to develop appropriate knowledge in LCM. The current LCM capabilities and practices at SKF will be assessed, and a strategy developed for implementing LCT and LCM in the particular context of SKF. PhD student positions are limited to five years and normally include 20% departmental work, mostly teaching duties. Salary for the position is as specified in Chalmers’ general agreement for PhD student positions.
