Eligibility: Applicants for a studentship should submit an application form in Welsh or English. It must include a research proposal of not more than 1,000 words. Masters applicants should outline the proposed area of study and their plans for the dissertation. Research applicants should give the proposed title for their thesis and an explanation of the scope and significance of the proposed research. Postgraduates already pursuing research degrees in the Cardiff School of History and Archaeology are eligible to apply.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes
The Cardiff School of History and Archaeology in Cardiff will offer for 2011/12 a number of Postgraduate Studentships equal to the cost of home/EU fees. Some Studentships will be available for MPhil/PhD students, and may be held for up to three years of full-time postgraduate study; other Studentships will be available for Masters students, and may be held for one year. Pro rata awards may also be made for part-time study. Overseas students are eligible to apply for the studentships, and if successful they will receive the equivalent to the home/EU fees, not the full overseas fee. Applicants will have been accepted for postgraduate study in the Cardiff School of History and Archaeology and may also have applied for a research council award (AHRC, ESRC, NERC, etc). Where appropriate, applicants from outside the UK, may have applied for an Award from the Overseas Research Scheme or from another funding body. Applicants for the Masters in Medieval British Studies are eligible for the Studentships, provide that their applications and research proposals indicate a sufficient prominence of History or Archaeology in their prospective course of studies.
