These scholarships are open to all those who are eligible to practice as a solicitor or barrister in Ireland who are not currently working.
This scholarship will offer a number of free places on the AITI Tax Consultant programme. This opportunity to obtain Ireland’s most prestigious tax qualification will be accompanied by a work placement with one of Ireland’s leading legal or accountancy firms. These scholarships must be taken up in the coming academic year. Scholars can chose to study in the AITI winter programme 2011-2012 or the AITI summer programme 2012.

The Centre for Advanced Photonics and Process Analysis (CAPPA) in Cork, Ireland, has 3 positions available for postgraduate researchers in the area of photonic devices research.

Eligibility:
Postgraduate students interested in pursuing either an M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in photonics.
Photonics is the generation and manipulation of light (e.g. lasers), and is a key enabling technology in a wide range of application areas, including telecommunications and medical imaging. The positions currently available are: Marie Curie PhD on Modelling and Characterisation of QD Structures and Lasers – within the PROPHET EU network PhD on Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Novel Photonic Structures – within the INSPIRE national graduate programme MSc on Development of a UV Photocatalysis Water Purification Unit – within the EU FP7 project AQUA-PULSECAPPA is a research group of Cork Institute of Technology (www.cit.ie) with several members based in the Tyndall National Institute (www.tyndall.ie). The group’s research aims to advance the understanding of the dynamics of novel semiconductor materials and devices from both applied and fundamental viewpoints. Current areas of interest include the properties of quantum dot (QD) systems (principally InAs dots and more recently GaSb dots) and the behaviour of semiconductor devices under optical feedback and injection (see also www.physics.cit.ie/photonics for more information). Tyndall National Institute is one of Europe’s leading research centres, addressing the scientific advances that are needed for the information technology of the future. The Institute is located on a high-tech campus in Cork city, Ireland. In Tyndall, over 350 researchers, engineers, students and support staff work together in the areas of photonics, micro/nanoelectronics, microsystems and theory and modelling.

Applicants must hold a first or second class honours degree in a relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the area of teaching and learning, preferably at university level.
The School of Health and Human Performance invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the post of Teaching Fellow in Athletic Therapy. Applicants must hold a first or second class honours degree in a relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate relevant experience in the area of teaching and learning, preferably at university level. Applicants should have appropriate clinical experience and ideally experience in the supervision of clinical skills training and assessment, have relevant qualifications and be experienced in emergency care training and be competent in a wide range of evidence-based, applied modalities for the prehabilitation and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. Applicants should also demonstrate high quality interpersonal and communication skills consistent with the highest quality of teaching and learning, together with evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Schools’ teaching and learning activities and its citizenship activities within the School, the University and beyond.
