Scholarship can be taken at: Denmark
Eligibility: -We are looking for a candidate who has: Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree, or equivalent Previous experience in marine, aquatic, ecological and/or population dynamics research Proficiency in written and spoken English Demonstrated quantitative analytical skills Keen interest in research and for working within the field of marine and aquatic sciences
A PhD Scholarship in Marine Population Dynamics and Management is available at the National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua) with starting date October 2011. The scholarship is mainly financed by the Strategic Research Council Project MAFIA. The project will primarily be carried out in the Section for Management Systems in Charlottenlund, Denmark. The aim of the project is to investigate the feeding biology, growth dynamics and bio-energetics of whiting (Merlangius merlangus) in the Western Baltic Sea, and to compare these population dynamic parameters with those of its conspecific in the North Sea. The impact of influencing factors on the above parameters, such as seasonal and geographical variation in e.g. hydrographical conditions (temperature, salinity, oxygen), as well as sex, maturity, age and condition specific variability will be evaluated in the comparative study between Baltic and North Sea whiting.

PhD Position : Measurement of Scheduling Preferences and the Value of Travel Time Variability, Denmark Newest Scholarships 2011

Technical University of Denmark offers PhD Position in the field of economics, mathematical economics in Denmark-2011.
Study Subject(s): Measurement of Scheduling Preferences and the value of Travel Time Variability
Course Level: PhD
Scholarship Provider: Danish Council for Strategic Research
Scholarship can be taken at: Denmark
-Candidates must have a master degree in economics, mathematical economics, or equivalent academic qualifications.
-Candidates are expected to be able to make empirical and theoretical contributions to the subject.
-Good command of the English language is necessary.
The Ph.D. project concerns the economic costs of travel time variability. A large share of road congestion delays in large urban areas is due to non-recurring events, causing travel times to become random and unpredictable from the travelers perspective. Understanding and measuring the costs of travel time variability is important for transport policy. The topic of this Ph.D. project is the valuation of travel time variability. In general, this valuation can be achieved through measurement of traveler preferences concerning trade-offs involving travel time variability, which can be carried out in choice experiments.
