The objective of the PRF Postgraduate Research Scholarships is to provide deserving students with the opportunity to obtain a Masters degree, that will enable them to make a contribution to high quality scientific research in the supply or utilisation of protein in animalnutrition , or both. The subject of study for the Masters degree must fall within the broad framework of the mission, vision and goals of the PRF. Doctoralscholarships will also be considered if the subject of study is deemed to be of a high priority to the PRF.The scholarship is open to citizens of the Republic of South Africa who have qualified for admission to a Masters or Ph D degree at a recognised tertiary institution.

The successful candidate must conduct an approved research project under the leadership of a recognised supervisor at the university concerned. The project may be used towards the fulfilment of the requirements for the postgraduate qualification. A formal contract must be signed by both parties.Candidates should submit PRF scholarship applications to their university administration, and the names of those who have applied for the first time should be listed in priority sequence by the University. Applications from those candidates selected by the university are then submitted to the PRF. Selected candidates may be requested to attend a personal interview, costs of which are carried by the PRF.

Level: Bachelor(Honours level /4th year)

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering(SAWISE) and The Hope Network invites female students entering their Honours level /4th year of study to apply for the scholarship.
The scholarship is for one year full time study.The value of the scholarship is R10000.The scholarship is tenable at any of the following universities: University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, University of Kwazulu-Natal, University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch, University of the Witwatersrand, University of the Western Cape.
Eligibility Criteria:
Female students entering their Honours degree/4th year of study with an academic average of over 65%, pursuing study in the areas of science and engineering (medical fields included). Candidates must exhibit outstanding personal qualities and a strong desire to make a contribution to their respective fields and to society at large. Candidates must be South African. Preference will be given to a candidate experiencing financial difficulty or distress.

Research Associateships have been established to provide prestigious awards to reward excellent student researchers, who are registered for full-time study and to recognise and support the work of their supervisors.
The purpose of the Research Associateships is to align reward and recognition of the research undertaken by students and their supervisors, with the University’s strategic objectives to be research-led and to be a transforming university.
Eligibility Criteria
o Only students who are registered for full-time study for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of the Doctoral degree
o Upgrades: Where a student has upgraded from Masters to Doctoral, she/he is eligible only in the 1st and 2nd year of DOCTORAL study (notwithstanding the number of years that she/he was registered for Masters).
o Only students who are registered for full-time study in the 1st and 2nd years of a Master’s degree by dissertation only
o Only students who are registered for full-time study in the 2nd year of a Master’s degree by coursework and research.
o Students registered for full-time study in the Commerce Faculty for a 4-year Doctoral degree (whereby the 1st year consists of coursework and is certificated) are eligible and may be nominated in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year.
o Students who meet the above criteria must be NOMINATED by their supervisors. Individual application from students will not be accepted.
o Full time Staff members are not eligible.
