Eligibility:
1. Scholarship applicants must be accepted into a program of study at an educational institution, as evidenced by a proof of acceptance – either an acceptance letter OR a current school transcript.
2. Applicants must be at least 25 years of age as of the date of the postmark of the application.
3. Applicants will be considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, and/or physical impairment.
4. Applicants must complete the application form and essay requirement and must mail all required materials to the address provided. All materials being submitted for an applicant (signed application, recommendation letters and program acceptance letter or current transcripts) must be submitted in one package. All material related to an applicant must note the applicant’s name and email address. The application package must be postmarked no later than Friday, January 6, 2012. No exceptions will be made.
5. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications will be evaluated based on the information provided; therefore, all questions should be answered as thoroughly as possible. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
6. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on a number of criteria, including financial need, other funding received, career/life goals, essay content, leadership and participation in community activities, and honors and awards received. Please see the Additional Information section for detailed information on selection criteria and application requirements.
7. Provided that a valid email address is included, each applicant will be notified of the status of her application no later than February 15, 2012. Only a select number of applicants will be chosen as recipients.
8. Acceptance of a scholarship award constitutes permission for Emerge to use the recipient’s name, biographical information, and photo for publicity purposes.
9. Recipients of scholarships will be responsible for any and all taxes that apply to receipt of a scholarship under the law of their state of residence. Applicants should check with the appropriate state agency or with an accountant or lawyer specializing in tax questions. Emerge cannot answer questions about taxes



The money provided by the Emerge scholarship may only be used to pay for tuition and fees at the educational institution. The scholarship check will be made out directly to the institution with instructions to only apply the funds to the student’s current account to pay for school tuition and fees. If awarded, your scholarship funds will be available as of March 2012 and may be paid towards tuition, books and fees for Fall 2011 through Fall 2016, or until the full scholarship funds are used. The exact amount of each scholarship and the total number of scholarships to be awarded will vary from year to year (10 scholarships were awarded in 2011). The approximate value of each award for 2012 will be $2,000 – $5,000 (amount is subject to change).

Hyundai Scholarships of up to full tuition (fees excluded) are awarded for the period of one academic year. These awards may be renewed for one to four additional years, depending upon the program of study. Renewal applications are required. Awards are made annually to both South Korean and U.S. citizens. Korean Applicants are expected to return to Korea upon completion of their programs of study to contribute to the economic advancement of Korea. U.S. students need to demonstrate a substantive commitment to Korea. School of Business and School of Engineering and Applied Science Hyundai scholarship candidates must take their course work at the Foggy Bottom Campus. Eligible fields of study are all programs in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the School of Business as they relate to Korea or Korean-American relations. All recipients must be full-time masters or doctoral students, and demonstrate high scholastic achievement by maintaining required academic averages for their programs of studies. Incoming Korean students must have minimum TOEFL scores of 600 on the written test or 105 on the internet-based exam, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.0

It is anticipated that South Korean scholars will utilize their knowledge to enhance the viability of the South Korean economy through the expansion of educational technology in the fields of international business, international banking, computer science, information technology, research and development, and related fields. The program is also designed to interest American scholars in Korea and to further the bilateral cultural, economic, and political exchanges between the United States and the Republic of Korea

The Sustainability Science Program at Harvard University offers doctoral, post-doctoral, and mid-career fellowships

Applications for the mid-career fellowships are invited from individuals in governmental, non-governmental, private organizations, or academia with at least five years of professional experience doing work involved in linking science and practice for sustainable development. Applications for the post-doctoral fellowships are welcome from recent recipients of the Ph.D. or equivalent degree. (Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. between 2008 and 2012.) The Sustainability Science Program at Harvard University offers doctoral, post-doctoral, and mid-career fellowships in Sustainability Science. The Global Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh has endowment funding to support an early-career Lesotho national working in community health care issues for one or two semesters beginning in fall 2012. The endowment is able to support international transportation, lodging, health insurance and a stipend to cover food and living expenses. A similar opportunity is available for the spring semester. The exact dates are negotiable. The successful candidate is expected to participate in a range of workshops, classes and other curricular opportunities tailored, in so far as possible, to the candidate’s area of expertise. Classes are provided free of charge, but do not carry university credit towards a degree. The successful candidate will return to Lesotho with documentation of the completed work-enhancement opportunities and will participate in the selection of the next year’s candidates in this pioneering effort.

This scholarship program will provide financial support (up to $5,000) to physicians to learn the latest clinical information and research updates in hospice and palliative care from leading experts in the field. This scholarship program is intended to facilitate Annual Assembly participation and cover ordinary costs associated with meeting registration, travel-related expenses (air fare, cab fare, meals), and lodging.

The competition is open to Cornell advanced graduate students in the social sciences, history and philosophy who plan to spend an academic year in Europe, preferably but not necessarily in Italy. Pre-doctoral candidates must have a dissertation project approved by their special committee.



Every other year, the San Giacomo Charitable Foundation awards a fellowship to a Cornell student. Eligibility:
To be considered for a National Board Technical Scholarship, a student must meet all of the following criteria:
-Be currently enrolled full-time in an accredited four-year college or university in the United States or Canada.
- Plan to be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2012 – 2013 academic year with sufficient college credits to be classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Major in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, welding, or chemical engineering, or other closely related engineering major.
-Possess a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
- Be a child, step-child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a past or present Commissioned Inspector (living or deceased), or of a past or present National Board employee (living or deceased). The Commissioned Inspector must have held an active commission for at least one (1) year. The National Board employee must have been a full-time employee for at least one (1) year.

The National Board Technical Scholarship provides financial awards to outstanding students enrolled full-time in an engineering program of interest to the National Board. Up to two $6,000 scholarships may be awarded each year to eligible students. The application period is September 1 to February 28. A maximum of one (1) scholarship may be awarded to an eligible individual. Previous scholarship recipients are not eligible.

Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship for College or University Students funded by CWA in New York, USA -2012

To be eligible you must meet the following requirements:
1. Must be an active member in good standing in Local 1105 or
2. The Spouse or child of a member in good standing in Local 1105.
3. A full-time college student working towards a degree (matriculating) at an accredited college or university, or
4. A high school student or graduate who has been accepted at an accredited college or university.

CWA Local 1105 has established the Scholarship Award Program for all members in good standing and their immediate families (spouses and children). There are 12 $1105 scholarships available, four (4) for each division (Central, Eastern and Northern). The scholarship applications are only available to members in good standing, convicted scabs and nonmembers need not apply as they are not eligible. After all applications have been reviewed by the Scholarship Committee three winners will be selected at random from all eligible applications received for each division
