Candidate should have the equivalent of a first class honours (four-year) degree in a relevant discipline (broadly defined: relevant fields include environments; planning; architecture; education; sociology; human factors; human-computer interaction).
A Masters-level research scholarship is available under the Strategic Research Australian Postgraduate Awards scheme (STRAPA) at the University of Melbourne. The candidate will conduct interdisciplinary research in architecture and education to address an issue of national importance: ‘In what ways does the physical campus environment contribute to the student learning experience in higher education?’. Following a case study approach, the candidate’s research will focus on the relationships between architectural education, studio teaching, learning environments, and environmental change. The project will involve writing a supervised thesis of 30,000-40,000 words, leading to the award of the degree of Master of Philosophy (MPhil).
