We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic PhD student for the Laboratory of Protistology and Aquatic Ecology interested in microalgae physiology. Your research will be focused on how cell metabolism and biochemical composition vary among species and is influenced by environmental stress. You will be partly involved in the European BAMMBO-project (“Sustainable production of Biologically Active Molecules of Marine Based origin”) that will screen and identify target marine organisms for potential as sustainable producers of high-added value molecules (HVABs). Your work will be highly complementary to ongoing research in the group and involves close collaboration both with (inter)national research partners and industrial companies.
Eligibility:
• You have a Master degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Bioengineering
• You read, write and speak English fluently
• You work accurately and efficiently. You have good technical and writing skills. You are independent and like to take initiative. You are flexible. You have good communication skills. You are a team player
• Willingness to apply for an IWT PhD scholarship is a plus.
