Uppsala University hereby declares the following position to be open for application:

Postdoctoral position in Wireless Sensor Networks

at the Signals and Systems division, Department of Engineering Sciences, The Angstrom Laboratory.
The position is for two years starting 2011-10-01.

Duties: To conduct research in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks with emphasis on measurements and modeling of radio channels, energy efficient transmission methods, and wireless control. Experience of theoretical and experimental work within the field is important, as is experience from using radio channel measurement equipment and programming in MATLAB and LabVIEW. The duties include planning, performing experiments, and documentation in the form of technical papers and reports. Participation in the undergraduate or graduate education and supervision of PhD students is also required.

The holder of the position will be part of the Center of Excellence in Wireless Sensor Networks, WISENET, where methods of the future are developed, and of a research project in wireless control where cutting edge research in communications and control are merged to form the wireless control interface of the future. WISENET is a ten-year long collaboration between UU, SiCS and several SME’s, whereas the wireless control project is collaboration between UU, KTH and ABB.

Qualifications required: A PhD in Signal Processing or a closely related subject with a documented experience of signal processing for wireless communications and control. Particular emphasis will be on experience of conducting radio channel measurements, and control over wireless networks.

The applicant for the position as Postdoctoral Fellow must have completed a doctorate or an equivalent doctorate degree less than three years before the application deadline. If there is sufficient rationale, the doctorate can have been completed earlier. Such rationale can include sick leave, parental leave, or the possession of a commission of trust in a labor union.

Duration of the position: The postdoctoral position is for two years.

The University is striving to achieve a more equal gender balance and female candidates are particularly invited to apply.
