Eligibility:

-The position is open to outstanding candidates with a background in antennas and/or microwave (knowledge in microfabrication is also welcomed but secondary).
-European citizenship (not necessarily from an ESA member state) or from an ESA associated country (e.g. Canada) is required by the funding program.
-The successful candidate will benefit from excellent infrastructure and a dynamic working environment.

This project, funded by European Space Agency (ESA) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), concerns the design of dynamically reconfigurable millimeter wave devices and antennas, which is becoming a prime need in space-related applications. In this context, we propose to conduct a PhD thesis related to the analysis, design, and implementation of mechanically-reconfigurable millimeter wave devices using microfabricated actuators. This PhD thesis work will comprise both theoretical microwave/antennas and more practical issues related to the implementation and measurement of the designed devices.
