Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Carbon Capture – Mixed gas permeation in membranes for carbon capture applications at University of Edinburgh, UK
Expertise in testing of membrane systems. Knowledge of energy applications of membrane separations. Expertise in mixed gas permeation. Knowledge of post and pre-combustion carbon capture. Expertise in humid gas permeation. Expertise in modelling of mass transport in complex membrane systems. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent ability to work independently. PhD in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
The project forms part of the carbon capture research activity carried out at IMP by Dr Ferrari. Membrane processes are one of the options currently being investigated for carbon capture from flue gases and for hydrogen purification and CO2 separation. To improve the performance of these processes it is necessary to develop novel materials, which require higher selectivity and permeability. You will responsible for the experimental measurement of permeability of pure and mixed gas in novel polymer and composite materials. You will analyse the data with different model in order to describe the mass transport in the system. You will develop experiments for the test of the materials in presence of water and impurities.
