Preferably, the candidate should: ·
-have a PhD/MSc in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or in a related field of study ·
-be an independent problem solver and work result-driven
-have experience with machine learning, data mining, and statistics ·
- be ambitious in research and problem solving
-have experience of software development ·
-have less than 6 months of prior work experience and be an EU citizen (an IWT grant requirement)
-have excellent grades
-have fluent written and oral skills in English (Dutch is an asset)

This project aims to integrate different sources of information and to discover patterns of diagnosis, co-morbidity, small or more pronounced changes in the vital parameters or the evolution of lab tests for predicting the evolution of patients and their outcome. The ultimate goal is to improve overall treatment quality, reduce mortality and increase hospital efficiency by developing novel machine learning and data fusion techniques for medical decision support.
